Hard decision SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 or upgrade to openSuSE 10.2
Well, first off let me say that I am a proud SuSE user, and have been a fan of SuSE for a long time, and Netware for even longer. I am very please with both SLED 10 and very impressed with openSuSE 10.2 and now I have come to a fork in the road. Do I keep SLED 10 on my production work machine, or do I install openSuSE 10.2? If I install 10.2 would I be able to use my registration code to manage in Customer Center in Novell?
Here are the quick advantages of 10.2:
Gnome 2.16.1
KDE 3.5.5
Firefox 2.0
Xorg 7.2
But I haven’t tested Lotus Notes on openSuSE 10.2, but haven’t been able to check it out yet since on my test machine (Toshiba Tecra M1) the Trident Video Card doesn’t render correctly using either the “trident”, “vesa” or “fbdev” drivers. I have opened a bug report to Novell but they closed as resolved with no clear resolution (this problem has been around in many distros with the Trident cards).
What are your thoughts on why I should upgrade? The biggest thing with SLED is the stability, although I would like an updated Gnome and Xorg (but rather wait until final release if I going to upgrade SLED 10 to Xorg 7.2).
Whelp, let me know whaty out hink.
Beryl and SLED 10
What a great combination. I replaced Compiz with Beryl 1.3 on my SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and I love it.
You can find SuSE Beryl packages here: http://forum.beryl-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=13

At least I am not sick anymore
Phew, I had a rough spell. Was pretty bad and sick for about 8 days, and finally I started feeling better. Went back to Jiu-Jitsu for the first time in a week yesterday, and boy I gassed like you wouldn’t believe. Today I couldn’t go to training due to work, but I am going to start running again on Monday and hopefully get my stamina back, i really have to start doing daily pushups and situps to help core and arm muscle endurance.
