Did you notice that after updating the compiz packages, that the Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager (Desktop Effects applet) moved from “Control Center” to “More Applications”? Interesting.

Apparently compiz has been updated. So that the new installers do not get confused can you update your posting about the version numbers. I know you do not want to update it every time. But today is only day 2 and the versions are a bit off.

Try holding the alt key and dragging the window up using the mouse.

If not open a terminal and run:

sudo zypper up -y -t package && sudo zypper up -y

Note: This will update all your packages with versions in the repository and install anything in the Update repo.

I cannot get your repository for X11:/XGL to list as I receive “does not recognize this repository” no matter how I try. Tripled check spelling and all.

peterpac, i would check the trailing / in the path, also initially mine didnt like some resident proggys using yast and i had to kill them manually ” ps ax | grep yast ” and then kill -9 , i dont know why, it just worked is all. the processes were kaput from previous software updating that day.

Hi Im relativly new to Linux an i am considerin installing openSUSE 11.0. As i am in a position to purchase a new computer what pc set up can you reccomend. I have heard that some systems are better than others. Would it be realistic for me to try to install 11? I am not sure what to do and have not been able to obtain any help from anyone.

hi their i downloaded open suse 11.0 and tried to istall it but it is not detecting my hard drives please help me iam using a AMD 3500+ processor with 512mb ram and 160GB harddisk(sata)

you can install any of the above without internet, they include all the dependencies, just unzip the both files into a folder named MMP2008 and create a repository from that folder as a simple rpm folder in yast, then make a search in the yast installer with the name of the program and check it to install it, this is very important if you don`t have internet at home, and besides, by default Open Suse doesn`t include several codecs due to license matters.
