Useful Repositories for your openSUSE 11.0 Experience
Here are some useful repositories that have the potential to make your openSUSE 11.0 experience an even better one.
KDE3 Repository
The KDE 3 repository is updated with the newest builds of KDE for openSUSE 11.0. You can set up this repo by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - KDE 3"
KDE 4 Desktop Repository
I highly recommend the KDE 4 repository since the KDE 3.5 version of openSUSE 11.0 does ship with some KDE4 packages (ie KRDC), you can setup this repo by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - KDE 4 Desktop"
KDE 4 Community Repository
This has Community ran KDE 4 Applications, this repo can be installed by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Community/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - KDE 4 Community"
KDE 4 Extra-Apps
This repo has ktorrent and other Extra Applications for KDE 4 and can be installed by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Extra-Apps/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - KDE 4 Extra-Apps"
Wine Emulator You always want the newest version of wine, as they ALWAYS are updating their versions and fixing bugs. I highly recommend keeping up with the newest builds. You can do so by adding the repo by running:
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - Wine"
Compiz Fusion Looking for Compiz Fusion "Bling" and want to be kept up to date for thinner code, better coded plug-ins and a better overall experience, then you want to use this repo to make sure you keep your Compiz Fusion up to date:
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - XOrg & Compiz Fusion"
openSUSE BuildService - Education Are you looking for Bluefish for your Web Development? You can find that in the Education repo which can be added by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Education:/desktop/openSUSE_11.0/ "openSUSE BuildService - Education"
Packman Are you looking for extra packages that aren't included in the base openSUSE build or build services? Check out the packman all in one repository which is a must for EVERY SUSE Installation. It can be configured by running
sudo zypper ar http://packman.unixheads.com/suse/11.0/ "Packman"
VideoLAN Looking for libdvdcss? or other helpful multimedia packages? Use VideoLan which can be setup by running:
sudo zypper ar http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/11.0 "VideoLAN"
Gnome Stable Want to install the latest GNOME stable release? If so, You can find those with the GNOME Stable repo which can be setup by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.0/ "Gnome Stable"
Gnome Community Gnome Community is a great repo with updated key application like Pidgin, or GIMP. Every KDE installation should also include the GNOME Community Repository for at least the very least The GIMP, this can be installed by running
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_11.0/ "Gnome Community"
